This master thesis describes the analysis of a multi-depot regarded to a single-depot planning procedure in a complex, dynamic environment of a logistics service provider. As a result of the analysis phase an evaluation model is developed to calculate and visualize the performance of a desired postcode area within the Ambient transport and distribution network. Furthermore, a simulation model, using SHORTREC, is constructed, which concerns the second part of the design phase. SHORTREC is used to provide insight into the situations in which a multi-depot planning is more advantageous than a single-depot planning, in order to minimize total costs. Besides, the simulation model is able to compare alterations in the network with former and/or future situations.
