Dr. Tugce Martagan’s doctoral dissertation ‘Stochastic Models to Optimize Biomanufacturing Operations’ received the Honorable Mention in the 2016 George B. Dantzig Dissertation Award. The award has been established by INFORMS to encourage academic research that is innovative and relevant to practice, and is given for the best dissertation in the field of operations research and management sciences. The awards were presented in a special ceremony during the 2016 INFORMS Annual Meeting in Nashville, USA.

Complexity in High-Tech Manufacturing has been awarded NWO grant

A consortium headed by Prof. Ton de Kok and Dr. Willem van Jaarsveld of the OPAC group (TU/e IE) has been awarded a grant of about € 600000 as part of the NWO complexity in transport and logistics call for the project “complexity in high-tech manufacturing”. Other researchers of the consortium are Prof. Bert Zwart and Dr. Maria Vlasiou (TU/e Mathematics and CS) and Prof. Alexander Verbraeck and Dr. Jan Kwakkel (TU Delft). The consortium includes the following industrial partners: ASML, Philips IGT Systems, VDL/ETG, Hilti, CQM, and ESCF.
